Dice rolling in a game can be used for many things, randomness being the most obvious. Dice can also be used as counters. The dice themselves can be unique and different sizes, shapes and colors to represent different things.

Hand management games are games with cards in them that reward players for playing the cards in certain sequences or groups. The optimal sequence/grouping may vary, depending on board position, cards held and cards played by opponents. Managing your hand means gaining the most value out of available cards under given circumstances. Cards often have multiple uses in the game, further obfuscating an "optimal" sequence.

After one play I really enjoyed it. It felt a lot like Warhammer Underworlds, less tight but way more accessible. The characters all felt unique and interesting with more of a focus on movement and 'pushing' than out and out murder. The theme is fun and accessible. Definitely a keeper in my eyes, just hope I can convince more people to try it.

I love this game, but there are a few things about it that bother me. There are relatively few models on the board, so losing one activation is absolutely punishing. The game feels oddly unbalanced beacuse players can commit as many cards as they like at any moment. That said, this game is FANTASTIC. The objective play and shifting scoring zones makes for a constantly frantic, tense experience (in a good way). There are a wide variety of characters who each play very differently. this game is super fun as long as you don't get tilted by having a few aristos wiped early.

This is actually rather slick in that you have a hex map and don't measure anything which removes a series of constraints and motions that you go through with traditional minis games. It plays as a hybrid miniatures game (using concepts as cover, line of sight, etc) but there is no measuring distances and "are they hidden" is objectively measurable, not subjective. It plays ridiculously fast too. I think we spent about an hour and the final couple of rounds once I had gotten comfortable, leads me to think that a pair of folks who really knew what they were doing could bang out a game in 45min. The Overwatch/TF2/CTF style of gameplay that works on objectives (with this one being a king of the hill style "get into the center area and hold it like for as long as possible") works well for the time duration. I was impressed and would totally play again. In some regards, this is the closest I've come to saying "yeah, this is what I want a CTF game to sort of resemble." Initial outlook is a rating of 7/10.
