Dice rolling in a game can be used for many things, randomness being the most obvious. Dice can also be used as counters. The dice themselves can be unique and different sizes, shapes and colors to represent different things.

Hand management games are games with cards in them that reward players for playing the cards in certain sequences or groups. The optimal sequence/grouping may vary, depending on board position, cards held and cards played by opponents. Managing your hand means gaining the most value out of available cards under given circumstances. Cards often have multiple uses in the game, further obfuscating an "optimal" sequence.

What an elegant and tactical game. At the beginning of the game I missed a ball to have something like a ball game going on like Guild Ball, but after 2 games I realized the nearly limitless tactical choices you can do with the different players. The game has a strong learning curve, but when you have the first successes the game is so much rewarding. But first you have to really understand the skills of your player and when they make sense depending where you on tehe board, where your enemy is and who your enemy is. As I said, quite overwhelming at the beginning, but everything makes sense after the first matches

Future brutal sports game with special powers, card play and dice rolling. It's pretty good fun. I started painting the miniatures then moved house and never picked up the painting project again which has created a barrier around getting the game to the table again. I'd like to rectify that, I'm not ready to give up on this one yet. 2024 update - nearly 6 years later I have finished painting the miniatures and looking forward to playing this again! < April 2018

Initial Impression: Combat sport ... of the future! The components in the game are of high quality. Boards are thick, minis are well sculpted and beg to be painted. This is a tactical skirmish game where area control is the focus. Of course, if you happen to kill your opponents while achieving control it's a bonus. Each player drafts a team of 4 characters, which have unique stats, abilities, and cards to add to your team deck. Rounds begin by programming the order of your team's activation and then taking turns activating your team members. Combat is resolved using competitive dice rolls. What really adds the extra spice in this game is that the underdog (trailing player) decides which area will be the next objective. Once some of the basics are internalized, this game plays smooth and fast. I'm looking forward to personalizing my own team.
