Argent: Mancers of the University is an expansion to Argent: The Consortium featuring a new candidate, new rooms, and a bunch of new spells, treasures, apprentices, and supporters.
Technomancy is the school of magic that deals with observable, repeatable phenomenon. Technomancers themselves don’t use magic, but they build devices that contain, process, and manipulate the natural magical energy of the world. The Department of Technomancy encompasses three schools:
Alchemy – Mystical biology and medicine, the creation of homunculi, and the transmutation of base elements.
Mechanics – The creation of fantastic machines that defy the laws of physics by magical means.
Artifice – The binding of enchantments to magical gear, creating items that have powerful mystical properties.

Good expansion, adds another player which is nice. Really enjoy all the additional add-ons and alternate play modes that come with this, adding even more replay ability to an already solid game.

Good expansion if you love the base game. Somehow sick of the hundreds of options available to you originally? Here's another 100 and a whole new class of mages! Seriously, if you know what to expect from A:tC, then this expansion should be a part of your collection. You will never tire of the game!

Some of the expansion fits in perfectly (new cards, 6th faction with different powers and spells), which makes the expansion well worth it. I think the only thing that really holds this back from an instant recommend is that the base game has such a staggering amount of variety it's a tough sell to just add more variety. On the other hand, the standout add is the Technomancers, which bring a great element to the game that I won't be omitting from here on out. So on that alone I think it's worth owning the expansion. Do be aware, however, that some of the additions (e.g. scenarios) are a deep dive you're probably only going to want to take once you've played the game a LOT. In my experience, it's pretty rare for BGGers (or myself!) to play a game enough to get to a place where you're needing alt scenarios. Also, don't be an idiot and play this game with 6 players. Just because you can now, doesn't mean you should.
