Pattern Building is a system where players place game components in specific patterns in order to gain specific or variable game results. For example: placing chips on 2, 4, 6, 8 on a board gets the player an action card they can use later in the game.
Pattern Building
A time track mechanism is a variable player-turn order mechanism by which the player who is last on the time track goes next. The function of this mechanism can allow a player to have multiple sequential turns due to being last after each one.
Time Track

I was involved with playtesting this game through many revisions. It has evolved into a very well rounded game that will appeal to many different types of gamers. The "Collectors" out there will love gathering resources and deciding whether to spend them on aquiring new spell knowledge or casting spells to either aid themselves or smite their enemies. The "Deck Builders" will love the different combinations that can be made with the spells. The "Conquerors" will try to gain dominance over the realm, leaving a trail of bloodshed in their wake. The initial exploration of the tiles and the initial planet configurations (which are in different locations each game) ensure a different game experience with every play. I can't wait for the game to be in print. I am very impressed with the artwork, board design and the wooden pieces!

This game needs a lot more variability, including number of spells, to be worth playing or owning. The upcoming expansion will help by adding a few more spells, but it's not really enough to save the gameplay. This is a classic example of an over-produced medium weight game (bordering on light-medium) that is waaaaaay too expensive for what it is, and for the level of gameplay involved.
