Pattern Building is a system where players place game components in specific patterns in order to gain specific or variable game results. For example: placing chips on 2, 4, 6, 8 on a board gets the player an action card they can use later in the game.
Pattern Building
A time track mechanism is a variable player-turn order mechanism by which the player who is last on the time track goes next. The function of this mechanism can allow a player to have multiple sequential turns due to being last after each one.
Time Track

I love the art, and how they worked magic into the game! Progress can seem to be slow at times though. I haven't beaten single player, but multiplayer seems to be a bit more forgiving (depends on who you're playing).

Played on TableTopia. * Very well balanced. * The game is very aggressive in its core, it shines when you let it be what it is - a warmongering area control with tons of player interaction. I think it's the key. The game may appear to be dull if players play it as a euro-game (sheltering on their territories and trying to squeeze VP out of it, disregarding a half of gameplay mechanics). * Spell system is interesting. Unusual.

CE plus Archmage Ascendant Rated for the solo experience, I love how the narrative develops. You start the game with nothing and you will go against a powerful warlord with seemingly unlimited resources. As you struggle along to learn new spells, recruit followers, eventually you will be powerful enough to stomp the warlord. I love tactical decisions throughout the game and the ease of running the AI. You can either choose a more volatile AI (dice rolls in base game) or a more methodical AI (card draws in expansion). Very satisfying when you chain your spells together towards the end of the game. The expansions come with more spells for you tinker with, elevating the fun experience.
