Card drafting games are games in which players pick cards from a limited subset, such as a common pool, to gain some advantage (immediate or longterm) or to assemble hands of cards that are used to meet objectives within the game.
Card Drafting
The primary goal of a set collection mechanic is to encourage a player to collect a set of items.
Set Collection
Variable Player Powers is a mechanic that grants different abilities and/or paths to victory to the players.
Variable Player Powers
This mechanism requires players to select individual actions from a set of actions available to all players. Players generally select actions one-at-a-time and in turn order. There is usually(*) a limit on the number of times a single action may be taken. Actions are commonly selected by the placement of game pieces or tokens on the selected actions. Each player usually has a limited number of pieces with which to participate in the process.

"Age of Artisans" offers new tactical options by adding Adornments to your Buildings or upgrading your Apprentices by Tools. With that, a whole new range and level of combos opens up. The Artisan as a new and very special Worker (counts for two on most Locations, gets even more power by the Strongman-Apprentice) helps a lot and speeds up your gameplay. With this expansion "Architects..." remains more or less unchanged but your gameplay will be even more variable and rewarding. A very good expansion for a very good game.
Clive Staples
Solid, non-intrusive expansion to an already great game. I usually don't like the idea of teaching new players a game alongside an expansion--I fundamentally think that it's almost never a good idea, and that experienced players dramatically over-justify that "it doesn't add rules and it makes the game better, so just include it." An expansion always adds rules, by definition, and adds length or, at minimum, mental overhead. We are fooling ourselves otherwise. That said, this is one of the closest examples from my own collection where I'd be very tempted to include the expansion, particularly with experienced gamers.
