Surprisingly good. I didn't like Rising Sun because I felt the design was too opaque, and missed the pressure points of Blood Rage. I didn't back this on kickstarter because it felt too close to RS, and yet, here, it works. The action system creates interesting decisions even when the board still feels flaccid, and the design picks up as time goes on. The merge works very well, as long as players want to cooperate, and creates questions that I hadn't seen in a game of this genre before... Blood Rage frontloads a lot of the important decisions at the beginning of every round, giving it a more intense feeling, whereas here the development seems more organic, but, it also feels less intense.

This is a Lang Masterpiece!!! All mechanics fits in perfectly. The merge is a new approach in gaming and I love it! Played it once with three adults who weren't able to share their toys. When the merge happens it was kinda shocking in first. But the merge was thematically consequence in the end and convinced even the sensitive human beings. With the right amount of trigger warning at the start the merge feels great. The dynamics are astonishing. In the beginning everybody fights against everybody. If the merge is near the discussions are starting. Especially if all players are close. Should "WE" decide our strategy early or should "I" focus on running alone. The endgame is fast and it feels great to live in a polytheism land as merged gods.
