Dice rolling in a game can be used for many things, randomness being the most obvious. Dice can also be used as counters. The dice themselves can be unique and different sizes, shapes and colors to represent different things.

Variable Player Powers is a mechanic that grants different abilities and/or paths to victory to the players.
Variable Player Powers
This mechanism requires players to select individual actions from a set of actions available to all players. Players generally select actions one-at-a-time and in turn order. There is usually(*) a limit on the number of times a single action may be taken. Actions are commonly selected by the placement of game pieces or tokens on the selected actions. Each player usually has a limited number of pieces with which to participate in the process.

Worker placement with interesting twist. Not a fan of its graphic design. Rules should be cleaner. Some mechanics could be dropped.

After several plays, I just don't like it. I think it is best at 3 players. I don't find the decisions all that interesting, most of the time. And some things feel very rigid in the game - for example, not having a good water tile is a big disadvantage and yet, if no good ones happen to be available on your turn.. tough luck. In 4p, the game gets so competitive that you can easily be down to being able to build one single building as your very first action of the round. There's certainly different approaches to the game, but your faction plays a big role in what makes sense and often the game just feels incredibly restrictive in every possible way. I can understand why others like it, but it's just too bland for me to want to play over more exciting heavy titles like Trickerion (if you want Mindclash) or Lisboa (totally different but same people I can play it with).
