The Campaign/Battle Card Driven mechanic is a relatively recent development in war games that focuses the players' actions on cards they have in their hand. The very basic idea is that performing a single action uses a single card. Games where cards are used to determine the outcome of battles do not use this mechanic.
Campaign / Battle Card Driven
Dice rolling in a game can be used for many things, randomness being the most obvious. Dice can also be used as counters. The dice themselves can be unique and different sizes, shapes and colors to represent different things.
Dice Rolling
Some board games incorporate elements of role playing. It can be that players control a character that improves over time. It can also be a game that encourages or inspires storytelling.

Leveling up and choosing specializations was super fun for us and for our kids! Two complaints: Figuring out how each "bad guy" was supposed to move and attack was sometimes a bit of a hassle. And sometimes it seemed like we were underpowered, sometimes overpowered. But despite that, this was still a great game and my kids are eager to play through the campaign again!

Smooth, easy gameplay, a fun (and really not unfriendly!) story and nearly endless customization are the high points of this game, which became our family go-to on family game night, even with our nine-year-old. Easy enough for kids, but deep enough for hardcore gamers, and with dice... like dungeoncrawler/adventure games SHOULD have. Highly recommended!

Cooperative campaign crawler game with deck building where you constantly level up your character like in a RPG game with multiclassing (e. g, Paladin lvl 1 and Mage lvl 3). Each level unlocks new corresponding cards. You slay through minions until a boss fight. + Artwork: charming. + Leveling up (multiclassing). + Simple to teach and scale. # Family game. # Luck of the roll (damage) - Combat environments are very similiar. - Warping issues of the card boards. - At least 3 players needed (otherwise you have to manage multiple heroes).
