Card drafting games are games in which players pick cards from a limited subset, such as a common pool, to gain some advantage (immediate or longterm) or to assemble hands of cards that are used to meet objectives within the game.
Card Drafting
Hand management games are games with cards in them that reward players for playing the cards in certain sequences or groups. The optimal sequence/grouping may vary, depending on board position, cards held and cards played by opponents. Managing your hand means gaining the most value out of available cards under given circumstances. Cards often have multiple uses in the game, further obfuscating an "optimal" sequence.
Hand Management
The primary goal of a set collection mechanic is to encourage a player to collect a set of items.
Set Collection
The simultaneous action selection mechanic lets players secretly choose their actions. After they are revealed, the actions resolve following the rule-set of the game.
Simultaneous Action Selection
Variable Player Powers is a mechanic that grants different abilities and/or paths to victory to the players.

Altoid Guy
Amazing game. The kind of game that I am always willing to play. I doubt I will ever get sick of this game.

It's only suitable for people who already know how the game works. It's mostly a filler expansion, but the new wonder boards are real nice.

Cities is a bit of a "more of the same" kind of expansion, but in a good way. A random selection of city cards are added to each age, one for each player, and so each age is one turn longer. This adds just a little bit to play time (the game still finishes long before it gets old), but adds in some new effects and also just a bit of randomness so that you cannot know what cards you will see during the game. (Some may not like this aspect, but I do.) The new powers of the city cards are interesting without seeming overpowered. The new wonders are interesting and fun. If you want an expansion to take the game in new directions, give Leaders a try. But if you just want to have more of the good stuff you got in the base game, Cities is the way to go.
