Card drafting games are games in which players pick cards from a limited subset, such as a common pool, to gain some advantage (immediate or longterm) or to assemble hands of cards that are used to meet objectives within the game.
Card Drafting
Hand management games are games with cards in them that reward players for playing the cards in certain sequences or groups. The optimal sequence/grouping may vary, depending on board position, cards held and cards played by opponents. Managing your hand means gaining the most value out of available cards under given circumstances. Cards often have multiple uses in the game, further obfuscating an "optimal" sequence.
Hand Management
Variable Phase Order implies that turns may not be played the same way as before and/or after.
Variable Phase Order
This mechanism requires players to select individual actions from a set of actions available to all players. Players generally select actions one-at-a-time and in turn order. There is usually(*) a limit on the number of times a single action may be taken. Actions are commonly selected by the placement of game pieces or tokens on the selected actions. Each player usually has a limited number of pieces with which to participate in the process.

+scavengers +promo cards Original 51st States thoughts Sort of a "crafting" game where you gather resources and convert them into more resources to build engines to generate points. I really like it but it is a bit hard to teach others. It's like it has 1 too many links. Especially due to the symbols. I like how the mechanics match the theme, but others may see it as too mechanical. The expansions streamlines the game some and makes it a better game. New Era It's bit of a weird analogy but I enjoy crafting in video games and this game does a good job of having that same feel of getting resources to convert into bigger, better things. I enjoy the thematic nature of the game's cards. I like that you are building multiple engines rather than 1. Rather than building an engine and ending the game too soon, you have a chance to see different engines work to their full extent. It is a pain to teach but I am getting better at it as i play it more with different people. +New Era +New Era: 2011 Spiel Promo Pack +Winter +Winter: Reaction Cards +Ruins

+ Moloch SOLO REVIEW: Fantastic first impressions for solo play. Different enough from Empires of the North to have a place in my collection. Try the fanmade borgo automa. Way way better and more challenging than the one included in the rulebook, and little to no overhead.
