1754: Conquest – The French and Indian War
60m - 120m
2 - 4 Players
Ages 10+
The Campaign/Battle Card Driven mechanic is a relatively recent development in war games that focuses the players' actions on cards they have in their hand. The very basic idea is that performing a single action uses a single card. Games where cards are used to determine the outcome of battles do not use this mechanic.
Campaign / Battle Card Driven
Dice rolling in a game can be used for many things, randomness being the most obvious. Dice can also be used as counters. The dice themselves can be unique and different sizes, shapes and colors to represent different things.

Hand management games are games with cards in them that reward players for playing the cards in certain sequences or groups. The optimal sequence/grouping may vary, depending on board position, cards held and cards played by opponents. Managing your hand means gaining the most value out of available cards under given circumstances. Cards often have multiple uses in the game, further obfuscating an "optimal" sequence.

A good light wargame on the French and Indian War using the same mechanics as 1775, but with, imo, less interesting events. It does add harbor spaces that allow for interesting moves (which also limits European regular troop reinforcements) and forts. Indians are present and work similarly, but the indian reinforcements are unpredictable. I'm not sure it's worth owning both 1775 and 1754.

Similar to Rebellion: 1775 but with some interesting twists: Indian reinforcements depending on the symbols on the order track, ports, sea moves without ship cards, forts and the fort die & staging points for militias. The ending is still weighted towards those who have the last (or last two) turns as they can go all out and ignore defence but overall I find the game fun. Record of games (Winner, Last turn, Order): British, Turn 3, F F B B British, Turn 6, F F B B British, Turn 4, F B F B British, Turn 3, F F B B British, Turn 4, F B B F (only just) British, Turn 3, B F F B French, Turn 7, B B F F French, Turn 6, (British surrendered) French, Turn 7, F B F B French, Turn 6, B F B F French, Turn 8, B B F F
