This mechanism requires players to select individual actions from a set of actions available to all players. Players generally select actions one-at-a-time and in turn order. There is usually(*) a limit on the number of times a single action may be taken. Actions are commonly selected by the placement of game pieces or tokens on the selected actions. Each player usually has a limited number of pieces with which to participate in the process.

I really hated playing this game and do not recommend it to anyone. At all. No matter what you are looking for in a game, there are better uses of your time and/or money. The actual gameplay is pretty solid. Not amazing, but solidly executed worker placement, even if it's maybe a little run-of-the-mill. Where the game absolutely stumbles over itself is in trying to force a narrative. The writing is bad. Like "mediocre high school student who discovered a thesaurus for the first time" bad. Much of the time, the writers seemed so insistent on trying to sound profound and epic that they forgot clarity is also important. This would be forgivable if there weren't so. much. text. Every round, there's several minutes of text to work through, all of it forgettable. To add to this, the app had several usability bugs in our playthrough. The VA played exactly twice, but not in the first OR last text of the game, so I have to assume this is a bug. (Even if it wasn't, the VA was not good.) On top of that, several of the "click here" texts would have large highlighted sections, but only trigger if you hit a very small, very specific spot. On top of that, I found the randomness of events extraordinarily offputting for a Euro-style game. It's not full Euro-style because of the randomness and I think this alone would be a forgivable grievance, but on top of everything else it was just very annoying to find out that the game-long goal that I'm supposed to work towards is now changing.

Tried for the first time. It reminds me of Monopoly or Snakes and Ladders in gameplay. I'm going to try not to spoil. My first game I ended the first third of the game with a substantial lead due mostly to lucky card draw. This built up further until I was chosen by the other players for a [bad event] then I lost a worker and was unable to complete this task I'd been given. Not completing that task meant that I got given a random penalty card that required me to send a worker with my spouse. This card combined with the new map that was revealed meant that I genuinely could not play in the third generation. As my first move was forced and then I couldn't get new workers as I only had the spouse and another helper piece that couldn't move to town spaces that could gain more workers. I left the game at this point because I couldn't play it at all in the last third. I feel this is a genuine 1/10 for me. I would refuse to play this game if asked even if someone really wanted to play it. I think this might be a good buy for someone that was really into Monopoly and wanted far more aggressive chance cards. If that sounds like it would be fun for you, then this might be a game worth checking out. For the average board gamer, this is awful.

Christmas 2022 Despite a terribly long first game 7+ hours. I loved this, (9)its got the potential to be a 10 So after loving my first game of a friends copy, i immediatly i bought it for myself. but while watching some reviews i came across the worst review i have ever seen, where the reviewer basically stopped reviewing the game and started reviewing the owner. Claiming that the game was so bad that the only way they they could be scori8ng this game high was not because the liked it but beacuse they had spend so much money on it. So i feel compelled to add my score of 9 came before I bought it and having played again I stick by that, and at this point leaning towards a 10 While overlong Its taking us 5 hours for most games now. It never feels slow or dull, the stories are atmospheric and i like that while i can plan, there will be other things in the world that effect my plans, and how each of the scenarios makes the game feel different. Biggest disapointment for me is that its not full narated.
