Hand management games are games with cards in them that reward players for playing the cards in certain sequences or groups. The optimal sequence/grouping may vary, depending on board position, cards held and cards played by opponents. Managing your hand means gaining the most value out of available cards under given circumstances. Cards often have multiple uses in the game, further obfuscating an "optimal" sequence.

Games with partnerships offer players a set of rules for alliances and teams. Partners are often able to win as a team, or penalties are enforced for not respecting alliances

Player elimination occurs in multiple-player games (>2) when a player can be eliminated from the game and play continues without the eliminated player.

Tile Placement games feature placing a piece to score VPs, with the amount often based on adjacent pieces or pieces in the same group/cluster, and keying off non-spatial properties like color, "feature completion", cluster size etc.

We won this game at a convention after one dissatisfying play. We have since played it again and I was not a fan. I just don't think I like this style of game.

Production is amazing, art is amazing, theme is better than Neuroshima for me. This is my go to strategy game for under 1 hour (more like 20-30 mins).

Hard game to rate. Somehow I thought it was more than a straight re-implementation of Neuroshima Hex. I also specifically bought it for team play (not enough games with team mode!), but I didn't love the team mode. The issue is the board is just too small for 4 players. I also felt that since tiles are visible when drawn, there's not much opportunity for individual play within the team. Card games like Tichu and board games like Tash Kalar work better with hidden information. Simple house rule here would be to make tiles hidden when drawn. If I hadn't already played Neuroshima Hex I'd probably give this an 8 for 2-player, but 6 for team mode.
