Dice rolling in a game can be used for many things, randomness being the most obvious. Dice can also be used as counters. The dice themselves can be unique and different sizes, shapes and colors to represent different things.

Bought at Amazing Stories boardgame swap on Nov 9th, 2019 for $10. It hadn't even been punched out yet. Dec 14/19 - I played it for the first time this weekend, in solo mode. It's an awesome game! I use cubes from Caylus to cover the squares instead of writing on the sheets, and VP counters from Dragon Castle to keep track of the number of actions that I have each turn and to count the VPs I accumulate throughout the game. I am playing through each of the solo sheets and keeping a record of my score on each level. I expect to score a bit better on each level the second time through.

Nothing special. Roll some dice. Cross out some boxes. Circle others. Gain some powers. Score points. My first and only play resulted in scoring an almost best category score. But it was a learning game and I made some silly mistakes early on. I imagine the future would be perfection over and over again. Dice willing.

I needed to add components from another game to track resources and actions (otherwise, you need to mentally track stuff - it just does not work well). There is only 1 sheet of each solo map so you cannot use a pen if you want to play multiple times. This is such a mediocre implementation of a roll and write game. I am so irritated with these flaws, it just ruins the experience for me.
