Pattern Building is a system where players place game components in specific patterns in order to gain specific or variable game results. For example: placing chips on 2, 4, 6, 8 on a board gets the player an action card they can use later in the game.
Pattern Building
Tile Placement games feature placing a piece to score VPs, with the amount often based on adjacent pieces or pieces in the same group/cluster, and keying off non-spatial properties like color, "feature completion", cluster size etc.

I've only played it once. While it looks certainly pretty, we had the feeling that scores don't vary enough to equal out the starting player advantage. The game didn't really trigger any emotions with us. Disclaimer: I am not a big fan of tile laying games, so your mileage may vary. Disclaimer 2: I translated the game into German on request from the publisher.

My wife suggested this game when we saw it at the game store because the box and components looked pretty. Well, pretty doesn't equal exciting when it comes to games. There's nothing inherently wrong with this game, in fact it has sound mechanisms that work just fine. But, in reality, we just didn't find it all that interesting to play. The decision points seemed somewhat obvious, and we have similar games that give us a more enjoyable experience. Even just a quick game of Tsuro delivers the kind of path-building fun and in a much shorter timeframe. While this one is nice to look at, and I was tempted to keep it just for the pieces, it didn't feel like the right decision to hold it in the collection when we were culling so many others.

A beautiful abstract strategy game where you place tiles with colored vines on them in an attempt to connect them to like vines causing your flowers to bloom. The first player to have all of their flowers blooming wins. Plays quick but has some interesting strategies to consider.
