Dice rolling in a game can be used for many things, randomness being the most obvious. Dice can also be used as counters. The dice themselves can be unique and different sizes, shapes and colors to represent different things.

Alex the Pretty Good
Strategy, planning and luck. That's a good combination. The "remove and don't get a chance to re-roll rule makes the planning for the potentially higher scoring rows especially interesting ... be greedy and remove your access to the remainder of your turn? Or play it safe and hope on a comparable roll at the end of your turn?
Akado
Neat roll and write game, although it felt so wide open that the decisions didn't feel meaningful. "Just do stuff and check your score at the end, try for a few combos along the way". Unfortunately, that just ends up being forgettable and not something I care about even while I'm playing it.
Affensohn
Best dice game thus far due to interesting tactical considerations. But an ugly-looking one with too much downtime when played with more than 2 players.
