Dice rolling in a game can be used for many things, randomness being the most obvious. Dice can also be used as counters. The dice themselves can be unique and different sizes, shapes and colors to represent different things.
Dice Rolling
Pattern Building is a system where players place game components in specific patterns in order to gain specific or variable game results. For example: placing chips on 2, 4, 6, 8 on a board gets the player an action card they can use later in the game.

Special power cards make the game too easy for experienced gamers. New public goals are too fiddly. I like one rare glass option (choice of 3 wild color dice) and the new private goals that go along with it are pretty good.

I think that the best expansions are the ones that add to the gameplay without changing the gameplay. Tiny Towns: Fortune adds coins that can be used to purchase alternate resources. Potion Explosion’s The 5th Ingredient adds a cauldron where you can trade ingredients for wild ghost marbles. The Passion Expansion adds the “rare glass die,” and much like the previous examples, adds both ease of play but also some complications if you want to use the new ability properly. You will now have 2 personal objectives, one of them using the rare glass die, but you will have to earn that rare glass die or you will end up completely losing out on earning that objective.

I like new goals which we will always have mixed in the game, and the added individual player powers are also nice to give everyone something special that they can do. I'm always glad when expansions find a way to add more variety and make each player slightly different without adding too much complexity. However, the glass die stuff might be adding a bit too much new rules. We need to play it more for me to decide if it's worth the effort, but I like some of the small additions in Passion, even if it's not as good as other Great Facades expansions.
