6 is too harsh. 7 with further plays. My son led us through our first game and, although he did a good job of explaining, I did despair at one point of ever managing to get my head around the different card icons. My concerns were unfounded. Only a couple of rounds in it all started to come together and the game zipped along quite nicely at three players. You pay battery cubes to move one of three workers onto one of 9 area cards in order to acquire one of three coloured energy cubes - and/or more batteries. Combinations of energy cubes are then delivered to fulfil contracts to collect stranded robots - these score points. Energy and and battery combinations can also be spent in order to buy additional powers to build your engine. Once you get going it is relatively straightforward to play - but with strategic planning and efficient execution needed to win. I picked this up for a song at The Works. It has good quality production, nice card stock with attractive central pieces. I would be happy to play again.

Planet defenders is a fun little game that I often pull out with people who don't really care for gaming. Serious gamers like it as well, though. Every game I played, though, someone ran out of battery cubes and it took a few rounds for them to catch back up, and it often costs them the game. I didn't really care for that, and we couldn't figure out how to fix it. Other than that, great game!

I enjoy this game. Recognizing that the technology cards that decrease the cost of collecting robots is extremely useful is a goal to winning the game. If the technology cards don't come up that decrease cost, then I think the other technology cards are fine.
