I have only played it as an expansion to the base game. My eight year-old still enjoys the original enough to ask for it occasionally-though she is on the verge of outgrowing it. This expansion definitely refreshed the game a bit and we enjoyed playing it on our family's game night. As a stand-alone, I suspect that it would be a bit too simple for her now, but she is not the target demographic.

daughter collection: wow!!! this game nails the sweet spot for my daughter's complexity level threshold. we had so much fun with this right out of the gate, and she asked to play it again and again. hope more great times will be have with this charmer and we can graduate to it's older (yet still little) brother soon. super stoked i picked this up along with my first stone age.

This game is obviously for small children and I am rating it based on how enjoyable it is to teach to and play with my kids.
