This adventure sees trouble brewing in the elven kingdom, and a brave elf must first manage their way through dangerous solo quests before rejoining their party to confront the diabolical archmage, Sinestra.
The Mage of the Mirror includes a Quest Book featuring 10 quests, 33 finely detailed miniatures, and 35 game cards that will expand the game for both Zargon and the heroes.

I only discovered the existence of the Elf (and Barbarian) Quest Pack a decade after HeroQuest was available in Europe. The Elf Pack was the one I wished I could have had. Finally getting to play it two decades later was an amazing experience. From what I read, the new edition lowered the difficulty of the original and fixed some oversights. I played through all quests with my kids and enjoyed each quest tremendously. Of all HeroQuest expansions, this one had the most memorable sequence of events. It was just 'get X to be able to do y' but it nevertheless provided a true campaign feeling. Finally getting to use all the wonderful Elf spells and artefacts expanded playing the elf hero in ways I did not expect, and one item in particular felt just incredible to have and really emphasised this quest pack as being focussed on the elf. I also loved the solo quests with my daughter as Zargon.

This was my first HQ purchase for the furniture for other dungeon crawlers I play. But it then became my gateway expansion to get into the game - enjoyable and simple fun.

At the moment, we haven´t tried this expansion yet. I give it a (provisional) 10. I love the new miniatures, and new doors of this expansion. Miniatures are better than «Kellar´s Keep» and «Return of the Witch Lord» expansions. It seems that Hasbro/Avalon Hill has improved its production quality. It looks great, although I do miss a new dice set in this expansion like in «The Frozen Horror». Anyway, I can´t wait to try this one!! :-)
