Dice rolling in a game can be used for many things, randomness being the most obvious. Dice can also be used as counters. The dice themselves can be unique and different sizes, shapes and colors to represent different things.

Hand management games are games with cards in them that reward players for playing the cards in certain sequences or groups. The optimal sequence/grouping may vary, depending on board position, cards held and cards played by opponents. Managing your hand means gaining the most value out of available cards under given circumstances. Cards often have multiple uses in the game, further obfuscating an "optimal" sequence.

Donated 2024-01 Blah. Even the great theme can’t save this turd. The components actually look good and make me want to play again.

I am really surprised at the high rank and the bad ratings on this game especially considering 90% of them never left a comment why. This was a fun yahtzee style dice game akin to king of Tokyo and run fight die. Maybe everyone is playing wrong or the rules were rough in the beginning? It seemed self explanatory to me after having played those other games. I think the characters all have some "special abilities" in that it costs you less die to charge and use your action. For example Jacob is good at distracting and the creatures roll one less die and Queenie was good at intrigue and utilizing intrigue cards. It's very difficult for Jacob to build up what Queenie has and visa versa so that's plenty of uniqueness than most other yahztee style games and more clever than writing text on the player board of what you can do. I think there are interesting decisions based on who you are fighting. Some monsters run away fast so you have to focus on you and your team's boards to capture 3. Other monsters do crazy damage so you have to focus on capturing fast or building shields or typically both to stay alive. As far as difficulty level it tells you how to adjust it up or down to fit your needs. This is designed for 8 and up, in other words families. I don't understand the bad reviews for difficulty when you are supposed to make it harder or easier. I think everyone who enjoys those other games I mentioned will also enjoy this one. Maybe long term re-playability could be an issue of you played it regularly but for the price we paid we will definitely get our money's worth. My rating is comparing it to other family weight games that are yahtzee style and this one has a huge bonus for being a co-op which is pretty rare.

Love the Wizarding World very much, and I love pushing my luck was happy to try this one. Cooperative dice game to capture the beasts. I very much enjoyed the films. Easy to learn and play and will work for a bunch of groups.
