Chocobo Party Up!
30m - 45m
2 - 4 Players
Ages 10+
Dice rolling in a game can be used for many things, randomness being the most obvious. Dice can also be used as counters. The dice themselves can be unique and different sizes, shapes and colors to represent different things.
Dice Rolling
Play occurs upon a modular board that is composed of multiple pieces, often tiles or cards. In many games, board placement is randomized, leading to different possibilities for strategy and exploration. Some games in this category have multiple boards which are not used simultaneously, preserving table space. Unused boards remain out of play until they are required.

Cindy requires chocobo games. I must provide. This is not a 2 player game, turns out. Reserving judgement after we play higher counts. It's shockingly similar to a game she was working on a while back, so that's been weird.

Played this a few months ago at UKGE. It's an OK lightweight family game, but *absoloutely* not worth it at the asking price (£36). You're paying a premium simply for the FF licence here; the components and mechanics certainly don't warrant it. IMO, wait until you can get it at around £20-£25.

6 = OK It's certainly visually appealing, but the gameplay is a little too basic. Move a team of chocobos to collect "pals" to bring to your nest, like a capture the flag kind of objective. Best features: + Easy to teach + Game components are appealing. The "friend cards" that let you do special little moves look great and are easy to remember + Fast pace due to simplicity The meh: - If I'm remembering correctly, rolling a "1" only allows you to draw a card, and that's it. Rolling numbers that let you move (and potentially be able to call a chocobo pal to your party) seem a LOT more useful. I think if you could move a piece 1 space AND draw a card, it might be a little more balanced - It's a little TOO "light" especially since it's a pretty BIG board (and was rather pricey). I don't have buyer's remorse although I was kind of like "oh, that's all you do" after a playthrough
