Eisenkreuz
A fine and pretty tile-set, but the tile growth becomes dominated by the expanding river - so not necessarily in the direction you want to expand. Riverbank areas don't develop evenly, villages can be difficult to complete and lots of little animal icons (for the farmers) need to be counted (more than say Carcassonne H&G). I found the boat race a little gamey/tacked-on and the fish scoring a little confusing at times, but players at least have another way to collect end-game points. I prefer the earlier Carcasonne implementations, so this had to be sold to make room, but I still enjoyed playing this version.
Born-of-Ashes
My favorite Carcassonne version. This has everything from the original plus a fun race mechanism with the river. The art and graphic design are clear, and it is just as easy to teach as the original while adding just a bit more and a little catchup mechanism too. Love it!
Big Bad Lex
Standard Carcassonne fayre with a more structured use of a central river than, The River. Nice catch up mechanism for the canoes heading downstream but the rest is just Carc with different bells on top.
