Co-operative play encourages or requires players to work together to beat the game.
Cooperative Play
Dice rolling in a game can be used for many things, randomness being the most obvious. Dice can also be used as counters. The dice themselves can be unique and different sizes, shapes and colors to represent different things.
Dice Rolling
Play occurs upon a modular board that is composed of multiple pieces, often tiles or cards. In many games, board placement is randomized, leading to different possibilities for strategy and exploration. Some games in this category have multiple boards which are not used simultaneously, preserving table space. Unused boards remain out of play until they are required.

Haven't played yet, likely won't. Got this from a board game grab bag at a local games store, doesn't look like my cup of tea.

"Sci-fi co-op that feels unlike others. After 40+ plays, this has climbed to be a very high 8 for me. It's just a whole lot of fun, and every game plays out very differently." What I like: - Sci-fi setting, with good art - Unusual gameplay that captures the theme pretty well - Pretty simple rules, but some depth of play - 15 plays in, the replayability seems good - At 2p, you want to stick together and you want to spread out - Plays quickly (~30-45 minutes with 2 heros) - The "easy" mode seems appropriately easy What I don't like: - Rolling high is always better - Could use more variability of tiles, aliens, gear, and missions - It has the potential to be swingy This is a game where you simply can't be bold. You have to bide your time, and trust that you can slowly chip away at your goals. If you reveal an L3 tile before you are geared up, the game can end just a few rounds later.

Wasn't even aware of this game until a friend pulled it out at a meetup. I had my doubts, but it actually turned out to be good. It is a cooperative game that plays in about an hour from my experience. It definitely takes some teamwork and strategic discussion to win. It has several levels of difficulty to keep it a challenge. The graphic design is okay. I can see how some publishers would take this game and add a bunch of miniatures unnecessarily and probably add $20 to the price. The components in the game are quite sufficient. I wish I liked the IP more.
