Eldritch Horror: Masks of Nyarlathotep is an expansion for Eldritch Horror, a cooperative boardgame for one to eight players where intrepid investigators must traverse the globe in an attempt to thwart the cataclysmic rise of an otherworldly Ancient One. Strange cults are gathering strength in remote corners and bustling cities all over the world. Though they seem to worship different gods, the investigators have found a thread that runs throughout all of the cultists’ horrific rites.

Vastly overpriced for what is in the box and the additional game elements sound weak - will be leaving this on the shelf until I see it for under £30. I eventually found a copy for under £30 but it is still overpriced and essentially an airbox - there was no reason to have this as a full-sized expansion box as there was no board, just 1 sheet of tokens and some cards. The campaign rules are laughable. FFG in full milking a cash-cow mode - yuck!

Dernière extension majeure, tout simplement géniale. Mécaniques nouvelles avec les Histoires personnelles, sortes d'objectifs secondaires pour chaque investigateur,et l'introduction d'un mode Campagne. Superbe matériel encore. Je suis fan! Last major extension, simply brilliant. New mechanics with personal stories, kinds of secondary objectives for each investigator, and the introduction of a campaign mode. Great equipment again. I'm a fan!

It's always nice to add more content to the game (items, characters, monsters...), but the new mechanics implemented (personal stories, ressources tokens...) tend to make the game unbalanced. It gives too much power to some characters in comparison to others (especially the new characters, who seem really broken) and adds too much randomness in the game. The game can go in every direction, and you can sometimes win it or lose it without being able to feel if your team is in a good or a bad position, which is not very enjoyable. Thus, each time we add it into the game, we have the feeling we are somehow "trolling" the game. Actually, I feel Eldritch Horror didn't need this.
