Dice rolling in a game can be used for many things, randomness being the most obvious. Dice can also be used as counters. The dice themselves can be unique and different sizes, shapes and colors to represent different things.
Dice Rolling
Maneuvers that directly attack an opposing player's strength, level, life points or do something else to impede their progress.

just played the first two scenarios with portal crawl and boss battle. This is a good and worthy extension of DT for solo play. I like the dungeon crawl appeal and skilling up of my hero with cards found during every scenario. The bosses have a good balance with some good mechanics to make them work. Happy i got this...

Cooperative expansion for Dice Throne. What makes it special? * Loot reward is provides to all players * Some legacy elements Pros: + Artwork (colorful, clear, cartoony) + Components (standees - or detailed, painted miniatures from Kickstarter) + Randomized dungeon with exploration (face-down tiles with different difficulty values) + Heroes feel/play differently than in competitive mode + Loot chest provides rewards for all players. Secret loot that is revealed at the end of an adventure (less expansive because you do not know what you will get) + Unique minions with individual "AI / objectives" based on dice. + Boss fights are the highlight. Bosses get stronger the more locations you explore. You want to find the boss quickly, but you also want to explore to find more loot. Bosses powers are randomized (unique deck of cards for each boss) + A lot of variety and replayability (bosses, heroes, randomized maps and loot) Neutrals: # Language dependent: text con cards # Players may flee the scenario / dungeon to be better prepared for the next scenario # Light legacy: campaign kept where players can keep new cards for their deck and equipment (2 slots). Some hidden legacy envelops to discover. # Luck of the draw: minion cards, loot cards # Luck of the roll (Yahtzee style dice rolling) # Player interaction: indirect shared resources. Players can help out other players with CPs. No direct cooperative actions that interact with other players. # Some down-time with 3-4 players Cons: - Dungeon crawl feels somewhat like "grinding" in order to upgrade your characters over multiple games until it is reasonable to get to the fun part and fight the boss, because you are likely to lose your progress (money), if you always try to win the boss fight. The normal monsters, you encounter during your exploration, are just attrition and not a real danger. (Note: the game comes with different boss modes where you can directly go into the fight without the dungeon crawl) Similar games: * The Reckoners (cooperative Yahtzee-like dice based game where players fight super villains (epics) in different locations to finally stop Steelheart, more thinky, no world exploration) * Too Many Bones (more complex dice drafting dungeon crawler, high quality, scenario-based, abstracted dungeon movement, swingy difficulty due to randomize enemy encounters)

I may never be able to play another game. My daughter is loving this one that much. Very fun game with a dungeon crawl set into the Dice throne world, which we both love already. Plenty of opportunities to manipulate your dice, and this game is fun because you are rolling for you and the baddies. Sometimes forgetting when you really need to roll bad. Hopefully we can get through this quick, so that we can play another game someday. Great game Roxley, and top notch components.
