Dice rolling in a game can be used for many things, randomness being the most obvious. Dice can also be used as counters. The dice themselves can be unique and different sizes, shapes and colors to represent different things.

As many have commented the rule book is terrible. I've played once, found it interesting but given the dice draws and rolls add too much randomness on top of it being hard to learn with a lot of rule exceptions I'm not sure I'll rush back to it...

Ambitious idea with dreadful rules that weigh the game down to the point where I never want to play it again. Not enough risk in most games, meaning you don't really feel that much urgency to finish the game, most zones are interesting exactly once. A real shame, even though my friends and I did get some joy out of it.

The narrative, setting, and visual presentation are great. The page system is novel and I enjoyed the dice action drawing. The problem is that the game can drag on for far too long and each scene possesses about 5 minutes of interesting bits jammed into 10-15 minutes of playtime. By the time I hit the two hour mark and we wrapped it up, I was already checked out. Upon repeated plays much of the magic and interest is lost re-visiting areas. This unduly emphasizes the repetition and length. Overall, it's just not quite holding up its end of the bargain. ------------------------------------------ Full review: https://playerelimination.com/2019/02/18/dream-a-little-bigger-a-comanauts-review/
