Dice rolling in a game can be used for many things, randomness being the most obvious. Dice can also be used as counters. The dice themselves can be unique and different sizes, shapes and colors to represent different things.

the set up seems to be exceptionally complex. I'm not sure. I'm willing to play but there are more options...

Fussy and confusing rules, not explained very well. High setup time for a game that is so random it hurts. I don't know if Stuffed Fables or Aftermath are drastically different than this, but the experience has definitely soured me on checking out the other games in the series. The few points it does get are for the production values and low price, as well as a cool concept(that simply didnt pay off for me in this case).

Our first adventure book game. What we like: - The setting/theme of each scenario is quite unique (comic book, TV show, 2D platformer, noire, etc.), it feels very thematic, and because the scenarios are so different with different enemies and items, it's like several games in 1 box which is super cool. - There are so many playable characters with different starting items / special abilities. So eventho the scenarios will be mostly the same, it still mixes up your games a little. What we don't like: - THE RULEBOOK! Oh my gosh, it's terrible. We had 0 understanding of how the game works after we read the rule book SEVERAL times. We didn't know what we can/can't do, we didn't understand how the game works, we had so many questions and the rule book had no answers. We almost just gave up. We didn't want to watch any videos so that we don't spoil anything, but we had to. Rahdo's video really helped us undesrtand how the game plays, and after that we quickly picked it up. - It's luck-based, and in a bad way. You can't do anything without the right dice, but what if you NEVER draw the dice you need? Feels so bad every time and there's nothing you can do about it. - Based on the scenarios we've played so far, you'll be replaying scenarios throughout your playthrough. However, they won't be changing much (if at all) and within a scenario you don't get any meaningful decision-making, apart from choosing which stage to go to next. Speaking of which, the game loop has you piecing together clues, but after a while you'll just remember them, so there's pretty much no replayability once all the 11 IDs have been the prime one. With that said, it's an adventure book game, so lack of replayability is expected.
