Dice rolling in a game can be used for many things, randomness being the most obvious. Dice can also be used as counters. The dice themselves can be unique and different sizes, shapes and colors to represent different things.

Fun for kids or those that want to relive their childhood playing the old upright stand video game. It really does feel like you are playing the game in a much slower pace so you can plan your moves. Here you get to take either side so you can for once play the Centipede and sidekick creatures. Very fun and a quick play.

Interesting emulation of the arcade/video game where a gnome fights bugs to pick mushrooms. The theme implementation may go a bit too far in that regard, indeed: you are not the gnome, but someone playing the video game. Well, one of the players is, while the other plays the role of the machine. Even the components support this, with pixelated meeples. They are a nice touch, but I still would have preferred more realistic-looking pieces. The dice restrict the options of the gnome player in a good way, but the single-card playing and mostly automated movement of creatures make the game less interesting for the centipede player. Also, moving the centipede is just too fiddly and takes longer than it should. There are other problems that harm the experience, like the initial setup of mushrooms and some vague rules. My impression is that the potential for a good game was there, but it needed more development. I must add that the game includes a four-player mode that seems to be a mess and I have no desire to try. This should be strictly for two players, but the higher player count was probably added for marketing reasons.

This could have been a great solo game. As it is, it house rules into a pretty fun solitaire game. Two player or solo it plays better with way less mushrooms at the beginning. Less is more (sometimes). I hope it's reworked as a solitaire game.
