Card drafting games are games in which players pick cards from a limited subset, such as a common pool, to gain some advantage (immediate or longterm) or to assemble hands of cards that are used to meet objectives within the game.
Card Drafting
Hand management games are games with cards in them that reward players for playing the cards in certain sequences or groups. The optimal sequence/grouping may vary, depending on board position, cards held and cards played by opponents. Managing your hand means gaining the most value out of available cards under given circumstances. Cards often have multiple uses in the game, further obfuscating an "optimal" sequence.

This card game features some of the most beautiful cards I've ever seen or touched. The components are just spectacular. Sylvion is a really, really difficult co-op and solo game. I have beaten it solo using the advanced rules, but I've never won playing with two players. Blazes are just brutal, and there are so many of them. The card drafting mechanic in the advanced rules are awesome. I could just draft over and over again and call it good, but testing my drafted decks against the game is awesome. The game state has a big footprint, but everything packs away nicely in a small (and super-cool) box for easy transport. If I know I have spare time and a table when I travel, I take this game with me.

I'm glad to have tried this game. There's a nice idea at the core and some really pleasant artwork rounding it out. But it feels too long and fiddly for the game I get out of it.

Is a good example of a tower defense type game in card format. The flow of the game feels a bit like plants vs. zombies with the fire working against you from right to left. The best part of the game for me is the drafting portion where you are gathering your forces. There aren't too many tough decisions in the game as most often times the choices are pretty apparent, but several times throughout a game you will end up with a tough choice. Game is not as easy as it may appear, although it isn't terribly difficult either. Most games seem to be competitive till the end. The only worthwhile way to play is with all the expansions and the advanced mode. I'm sure players will probably tend to gravitate towards strategies that have worked for them in the past, while they try to branch out some.
