Hand management games are games with cards in them that reward players for playing the cards in certain sequences or groups. The optimal sequence/grouping may vary, depending on board position, cards held and cards played by opponents. Managing your hand means gaining the most value out of available cards under given circumstances. Cards often have multiple uses in the game, further obfuscating an "optimal" sequence.

Destrio
The DT review was way overly positive. The Stratego style gameplay is hampered by the fact that you can only make a 3x4 grid for each player, but there is enough card effect variety to make it sort of interesting. I wish there were more effects that change the game up further. The theme is pasted on, but the quality of art and components are good.

Was not a huge fan of this - seemed very snowbally when one player got ahead. Art wasn't even as good as I thought it would be. Big "meh" for me.

If you ever wanted to get into Magic the Gathering but cant be arsed just get this :) 6 plays in and I think it's a 10 20 plays in and this could be one of the best games I have ever played! EDIT: 50 ish games in and yes it is. Amazing two-player card game. At the moment it blows away battleline, Lost Cities, Jaipur, Arbatorium, Fox in The Forest, and any two players head to head game. (and I've played many) EDIT: This and Lost cities...best two-player card games around (I have For Glory on pre-order) The most elegant game I've ever played - No setup, shuffling, math, scoring. Just boom into the action. EDIT: still true My wife requests it over Lost Cities. The first game my 15-year-old son has actually asked to play. I'm waiting for it to become stale but it doesn't look like it's going to. Cost an arm and a leg but so worth it :)
