Bargain Quest
30m - 60m
1 - 5 Players

This mechanic requires you to place a bid, usually monetary, on items in an auction of goods in order to enhance your position in the game. These goods allow players future actions or improve a position. The auction consists of taking turns placing bids on a given item until one winner is established, allowing the winner to take control of the item being bid on. Usually there is a game rule that helps drop the price of the items being bid on if no players are interested in the item at its current price.
Auction/Bidding
Card drafting games are games in which players pick cards from a limited subset, such as a common pool, to gain some advantage (immediate or longterm) or to assemble hands of cards that are used to meet objectives within the game.
Card Drafting
Hand management games are games with cards in them that reward players for playing the cards in certain sequences or groups. The optimal sequence/grouping may vary, depending on board position, cards held and cards played by opponents. Managing your hand means gaining the most value out of available cards under given circumstances. Cards often have multiple uses in the game, further obfuscating an "optimal" sequence.

If you absolutely want to play this game, and you can't find two other people....this...will....kind of....work.

As a solo game Bargain Quest feels different despite not having a very different rule set. One major thing that was omitted in the solo directions was to draft 6 cards rather than 4 in the supply step. I played with four. It was quite difficult. However, with 6 I found it to be too easy which is something I almost never say about solo games. The game play feels different because you are rewarded for keeping the hero alive as long as possible because you get additional points for them. You also die if you lose all of them. In the regular game sometimes you let the hero die because you can get more money from them by selling bad items and also defend against your opponents strengths. The display has little meaning in the solo game because you will almost always pick second. It's not worth your resources to build up your display just to still lose half or more of the time. Overall, solo pales in comparison to the multiplayer game but can be okay if you are looking for something a little different.
