Played the campaign at 2p. It changed the nature of the games somewhat - made them into races to complete objectives. We got the "Put 12 workers in the castle" card and it turned putting workers in the castle from the dominant strategy into the ONLY strategy, which worsened the game considerably. My opponent had won Architects, I won Paladins, and I won the campaign by putting tons of workers in the castle and winning Viscounts.

On one hand, this has amazing value if you own 2 or 3 of the West Kingdom games. On the other hand, it is expensive if you only own a single game. That said, you may be able to split the cost of this with a friend who has a different West Kingdom game than you. I believe this is a better value than the North Sea Runesaga as it includes cooperative options for each of the games in the West Kingdom, in addition to the mega-game. It's also nice that this bundle includes promo material for each of the three West Kingdom games. Not sure if the Runesaga one did or not. I bought this for the Viscounts promos and cooperative mode. So after having tried the cooperative mode more times than my plays would indicate, I don't like it. I think my biggest issue is that the easiest way to get the 160 points needed to win, seems to be by running both the debt and deed piles down to their respective end game cards before the end of the game, rather than just one. Why is this an issue? It makes the game longer and feel way more drawn out. In a normal game of Viscounts, if someone feels like they're winning, they'll usually try to push the end of the game. That doesn't really happen in the cooperative mode. Beyond that, I don't really like the feel of the cooperative mode. If you don't want things to spiral out of control very quickly, you should ideally seek to remove the evil pawns workers on the outside asap to avoid him triggering cards and placing 2 workers. Beyond that, keeping workers off the board keeps the coop AI completely predictable. So, to keep him predictable and in check you'll mainly be just be trading and building most of the time. This allows you to build up a mass of resources to spend on powerful actions before trying to delay him further. It also gives time to allow clashes for getting debt/deed cards which you want to do as previously mentioned. So, the actions feel rote and you're trying to keep it rote as long as possible until you have enough points to win. This definitely doesn't feel very fun to me. Even though the coop mode was a bust for Viscounts, I still appreciate the variability of extra hero promo cards included in Tomesaga. I can't really dock this expansion any points as I don't know how good the other solo modes are and I still appreciate having the Viscounts promos.
