This mechanic requires you to place a bid, usually monetary, on items in an auction of goods in order to enhance your position in the game. These goods allow players future actions or improve a position. The auction consists of taking turns placing bids on a given item until one winner is established, allowing the winner to take control of the item being bid on. Usually there is a game rule that helps drop the price of the items being bid on if no players are interested in the item at its current price.
Auction/Bidding
Card drafting games are games in which players pick cards from a limited subset, such as a common pool, to gain some advantage (immediate or longterm) or to assemble hands of cards that are used to meet objectives within the game.
Card Drafting
Hand management games are games with cards in them that reward players for playing the cards in certain sequences or groups. The optimal sequence/grouping may vary, depending on board position, cards held and cards played by opponents. Managing your hand means gaining the most value out of available cards under given circumstances. Cards often have multiple uses in the game, further obfuscating an "optimal" sequence.

2019-10: A really excellent and unique game. The theme of this game is very similar to one of my first game ideas, but I have to credit the designer for streamlining and retaining the theme. The draft + faux auction is a lot of fun and the interplay of turning the best profit vs properly outfitting the adventurer for success is really cool. 2020-04: Game it still floating at an 8 for me. I have to admit the game does this idea very well, and I am interesting in procuring more content for it. 2021-10: 8->7 This one drops a point just from lack of play. I still think this is a great game, but for whatever reason I don't seem inclined to get it to the table as much.

this game feels very unique. there is almost a semi co op feel in that everyone has an interest in defeating the bosses while at the same time not feeling bad when the hero you sold weapons to dies. you still have their money and more heroes are on the way to spend more.

Some big bad monsters are just outside of town and some adventurers are passing through to go fight them. It's up to you to sell them the gear they "need". Okay, so maybe that magic helmet doesn't actually do anything and the adventurer died because of it. But don't worry too much, after all they paid in cash!
