Voting allows players to influence the outcome of certain events within the game. The vote may be all or nothing, choosing a target for an effect, or to determine the results of certain situations. Players’ votes may not have equal weight, and blocking a player from voting can be a valid tactic.

SplinterBlade
You can enter a porcupine into a singing contest. This is a party game with a little more meat to it than most, but it's also just a smidgeon too complicated to fill the role well for me. The idea is great, though, and I think with a few plays and some house rules, it can be adapted to any group.

Like so many party games the point system with this one is really there to give people a goal. The fun is not in the competition, but in the silly stories the users create. The game is picking an animal out of a hand of cards to compete in three Olympic-style events. The events are often typical events like the 100m dash or sillier like a singing contest. The animals range from blue whales to ants. The art throughout the game is superb and the events and animals are wildly varied. (See what I did there?). Games that ask users to do a lot of creative work will necessarily limit who will be willing to play as many people (sometimes me) are uncomfortable with improv/role-play. Champions puts enough scaffolding around the creative process that players do not have to put themselves out there too much. One can be as elaborate or as brief as they like, so the game plays more like Dixit in terms of what it asks from players. However, it asks a little more than Dixit and players are voting on who’s animal is most likely to win the event partially or wholly based on how convincing or entertaining the story was. This does put a little more pressure on players to be creative and for that reason I have had mixed success with the game. Some just find the game is asking for them to be too silly or too improvisational. That said, I have not found anyone who hates it or feels too uncomfortable. Indeed, even at tables where someone was not enthusiastic about the game there were a lot of laughs because not everyone has to be into the game for those that are to carry it. While the game has a lot of variety in animals and events the storytelling can feel a bit samey if played too much so this is one I have good fun in bringing out once in a while, but I do tire of it when played frequently. Suitability for Travel: I have a 1 to 5 scale for four categories (1 is worst, 5 is best) in order of importance: Portability (the less luggage space the better) - 4 Footprint (the less table space when playing the better) - 4 Scalability (the wider range of player counts the better) - 4 Learnability (the easier to teach non-gamers the better) - 5 Overall - 4

not generally a fan of "make up some funny arguments on the spot" games due to my lack of improv skills, but this one is short enough that I can not worry about my own inability to bullshit and just enjoy everyone else's. less of a game, more of an activity.
