Play occurs upon a modular board that is composed of multiple pieces, often tiles or cards. In many games, board placement is randomized, leading to different possibilities for strategy and exploration. Some games in this category have multiple boards which are not used simultaneously, preserving table space. Unused boards remain out of play until they are required.

This is a very deep game with many possibilities in the process. It is recommended to disable the mechanics of the character at the beginning of the game because the character's strength in each game will cause the game not to be parallel.

Pretty good for a medium-heavy Euro, but nothing really stood out in the three plays. There weren't really "clever moments" or anything, just the slow burn of optimization and some planning, mixed with tactics of "What's still available?" Which is fine, but again, not memorable.

Only have played on the app. Pieces/playing IRL could be a bit fiddly I imagine. Very fun game, quite replayable and a fun, mathy puzzle. I do have to be in the mood to crunch numbers/plan things out. Not super forgiving for taking a bad early turn, but games are quick when everyone knows what's going on at least. Player interactivity is good between the research tracks and when/where to build mines on the map. Full information is nice too.
