In-game money is bet on different commodities in hope that that particular commodity will become the most valuable as the game progresses. Often the values of the commodities are continually changing throughout the game, and the players buy and sell the commodities to make money off of their investment.
Commodity Speculation
Dice rolling in a game can be used for many things, randomness being the most obvious. Dice can also be used as counters. The dice themselves can be unique and different sizes, shapes and colors to represent different things.
Dice Rolling
Play occurs upon a modular board that is composed of multiple pieces, often tiles or cards. In many games, board placement is randomized, leading to different possibilities for strategy and exploration. Some games in this category have multiple boards which are not used simultaneously, preserving table space. Unused boards remain out of play until they are required.

In my book, Clans of Caledonia falls into the same category with Terra Mystica and Voyages of Marco Polo. This game offers a ruthless experience in min-maxing your resources and planning your whole round before the your first action. A thing that makes the exercise even more exhausting is that the price of the actions is not fixed but depends on the space on the board on which you are building. This scatters the information everywhere in random directions and forces you to spend quite a bit if energy on finding the cheapest spots. I appreciate the design and could play but personally I am not too fond of calculating the cost of all my actions down to the last penny. I could but it is very exhausting. This game is basically a variatiom of the classic knapsack problem. You know where you need to go but you just have to find the cheapest route. I have to note that the different clans seem to play really well giving you different strategies to try out in every game.
Admiral Fisher
A decent game I am giving a provisional rating to. It felt like a mixture of Isle of Skye, Kingdom Builder and La Granja. There was lots to do and it fitted together smoothly and logically (unlike the clunky La Granja), however it did seem pretty generic and unoriginal too.
