Dice rolling in a game can be used for many things, randomness being the most obvious. Dice can also be used as counters. The dice themselves can be unique and different sizes, shapes and colors to represent different things.
Dice Rolling
Player elimination occurs in multiple-player games (>2) when a player can be eliminated from the game and play continues without the eliminated player.
Player Elimination
Maneuvers that directly attack an opposing player's strength, level, life points or do something else to impede their progress.
Take That
Tile Placement games feature placing a piece to score VPs, with the amount often based on adjacent pieces or pieces in the same group/cluster, and keying off non-spatial properties like color, "feature completion", cluster size etc.
Tile Placement

Amusing enough on a single competitive play through in a beer & pretzels kinda way. Unfortunately all a bit too long, and outstayed its welcome somewhat. Whole experience wasn’t helped by the fact we broke the game as the ‘bottleneck’ and ‘serac’ cards came out adjacent, meaning one player could not progress up the mountain at all. That, plus the continual unclear cards that meant looking up stuff on BGG constantly and cross referencing the poor rule book all very poor. Essentially, the typical Kickstarter thing that could have done with more playtesting, and all felt half baked, but with enough fun silliness underpinning it that I can’t completely slate it.

While I don't relate at all on the theme of this Kickstarter game it caught my eye instantly. The art work looks quite nice, the mechanics presented are quite intriguing. I love how it is a tile laying game which involves a Karma track to adjust your score rating. Quite optimistic about this game and hopefully will get to play it early 2017.

fab' Essen Spiel '17 2 games Nice components but rather "meh" tbh. The cooperative mode is better. perhaps also better with more player ? A lot of "take that" in the competitive game.
