Hand management games are games with cards in them that reward players for playing the cards in certain sequences or groups. The optimal sequence/grouping may vary, depending on board position, cards held and cards played by opponents. Managing your hand means gaining the most value out of available cards under given circumstances. Cards often have multiple uses in the game, further obfuscating an "optimal" sequence.

Attacop-Attacop and the hill troll are sufficiently difficult to deal with but the gollum tantrums feel overpowered. Good mix of locations and monsters. Wargs are a pain as they keep going back to the staging area due to the lack of shadow effects. Overall enjoyed this one. Sold in 2016.

A very tough final quest for the first cycle of the LOTR card game. Protecting Gollum is so hard! Your Threat goes up by 4, instead of 1 if you have him. Threat reduction is crucial in this. And the big enemies are really bad. I had 2 Ettercaps come out in a row right after I put one on the bottom of the Encounter deck (with Théoden's ability). That put a quick end to my adventure. Finally beat it (just barely) on my third play through.

Not a bad expansion. My experience saw extreme numbers of locations in the staging area with huge co-operative quests brute-forcing progress and many events causing the loss of cards. It certainly was challenging and required team-play to succeed.
