The Lord of the Rings: The Card Game
1 - 2 Players
Hand management games are games with cards in them that reward players for playing the cards in certain sequences or groups. The optimal sequence/grouping may vary, depending on board position, cards held and cards played by opponents. Managing your hand means gaining the most value out of available cards under given circumstances. Cards often have multiple uses in the game, further obfuscating an "optimal" sequence.
Hand Management
Variable Player Powers is a mechanic that grants different abilities and/or paths to victory to the players.

Poor Yorick
Only played once solo so far but this is a really nice surprise. I like the concept of the modular scenarios - this makes it possible to create some easier scenarios for more relaxed games, or to try out strange or thematic decks. And the print quality is fantastic - so much better than the previous print on demand sets, with a nice glossy finish and a subtle raised ink effect on the text.
Thies
I've only tried this as a traditional scenario, not in competitive mode. It's a bit generic as a scenario, but I like that it's very customizable and quick/easy to play because it's self-contained. I think these attributes will make this, its related Wizard's Quest and the similar Escape from Khazad-dum/Mines of Moria boxes good options for deck testing and tuning.
