Card drafting games are games in which players pick cards from a limited subset, such as a common pool, to gain some advantage (immediate or longterm) or to assemble hands of cards that are used to meet objectives within the game.
Card Drafting
Dice rolling in a game can be used for many things, randomness being the most obvious. Dice can also be used as counters. The dice themselves can be unique and different sizes, shapes and colors to represent different things.

This is one of the worst games I have ever played. I felt like most people couldn't do anything. I won the game pretty easily because I got the first lifeforms. I don't understand why people like this terrible game.

Thought it would be much harder to learn, based on its reputation, but it wasn't that bad and I got the hang of it rather quickly. However, without the Greyboardgamer's video, I don't think I would have done as well. This is also a lot more fun than I thought it would be, figuring it would be too sciencey. Yes, I am a science nerd, but I think this game transcends science and really is a fun game to play. Competitively, you are fighting to create an organism and also zap your opponents when you can. This game really could be about anything, but it fun mechanic using science as a backdrop. It also has excellent solitaire (although easy) and cooperative (hard) modes as well. After I figured out how to consistently beat solitaire, I switched to cooperative and had a tough time. The only reason I don't rate this game higher is that it is limited. The game involves the same refugia, the same events, the same mechanics every time. It wasn't boring, particularly switching from solitaire to competitive to cooperative. But there is only so much you can do with this game. Cool how Bios: Megafauna and Bios: Origins continues the series.

I LOVE THIS GAME! I am a field epidemiologist as well as a biology prof. I really appreciate what Phil is trying to do with this game. However, this game is not for everyone. The rule book could be put together in a more logical fashion. The theory and thought put into this game is great. However, I have only played it solo because I can't get anyone interested enough to play it with me. SO COOL! I love it Phil!
