Play occurs upon a modular board that is composed of multiple pieces, often tiles or cards. In many games, board placement is randomized, leading to different possibilities for strategy and exploration. Some games in this category have multiple boards which are not used simultaneously, preserving table space. Unused boards remain out of play until they are required.
Modular Board
The primary goal of a set collection mechanic is to encourage a player to collect a set of items.
Set Collection

I really like the core idea of players determining stats of dice but it coming at a price. High tension with the action locations. However, there are some random luck issues I take with the matching of patents and characters, stopwatch tile being random whether another card to take it away comes up, and the random loan tiles (though this is still okay because paid back loans are all the same). The Take That element with the inventions are also slightly weird for an euro but I'm fine with it. Maybe possible to house rule those things though.

I really like this game, but I will admit...it is long. 60 minutes per player on first play, that can likely be dialed down to 35-45 minutes per player with familiarity. Because of that, I see this as a 3 player game that scales to 3 players perfectly. It is also a game that is better as a sum of its parts. The little minigames and microtransactions don't hold interest upon close inspection, but do function well as a team. I think there are a few things that keep it from being high class. First, the connection of prototype to character is pure happenstance...there is no mechanic to search decks or anything clever to make those connections. Also, the characters and prototypes themselves are tactics only. You hope you see the right ones for what you are trying to do. I think if you go in with the mindset that the only real strategy is devoted to your assistant goal, and take everything else for tactics, the happier you will be with the game. Also, there are times when the mathematics just don't work really well. Still, I find the game charming and will keep it around for awhile.

Initial Impression: The components in this game are sturdy, colorful, and everything you would expect in a classical euro game. The artwork actually conveys the theme, with a slightly cartoonish flavor that appeals to me. Make no mistake though. This is not a light, low interaction style of game. The game's main mechanism is dice placement but rather than rolling the dice, you select the numbers and have to pay based on the number of pips you've chosen. Money is tight in this game so decide on your blind bids wisely. Throughout the game, you're hiring inventors, acquiring patents, creating prototypes, and generating buzz for your nation's pavilion. What makes the game cutthroat though, is that in player order you place the dice on various action locations, with the higher valued dice having first choice in those locations. This has the potential to block your opponents from their actions and thus ruin their plans. I love this level of interaction, similar to Vanuatu. With only 5 rounds in the game, decisions are tense and the game doesn't overstay its welcome. Released in late 2019, this game flew under the radar and was all but forgotten as COVID-19 hit the world. I've been enjoying a few fan-made solo AI systems.
