Card drafting games are games in which players pick cards from a limited subset, such as a common pool, to gain some advantage (immediate or longterm) or to assemble hands of cards that are used to meet objectives within the game.
Card Drafting
Hand management games are games with cards in them that reward players for playing the cards in certain sequences or groups. The optimal sequence/grouping may vary, depending on board position, cards held and cards played by opponents. Managing your hand means gaining the most value out of available cards under given circumstances. Cards often have multiple uses in the game, further obfuscating an "optimal" sequence.
Hand Management
Play occurs upon a modular board that is composed of multiple pieces, often tiles or cards. In many games, board placement is randomized, leading to different possibilities for strategy and exploration. Some games in this category have multiple boards which are not used simultaneously, preserving table space. Unused boards remain out of play until they are required.
Modular Board
Maneuvers that directly attack an opposing player's strength, level, life points or do something else to impede their progress.
Take That
Tile Placement games feature placing a piece to score VPs, with the amount often based on adjacent pieces or pieces in the same group/cluster, and keying off non-spatial properties like color, "feature completion", cluster size etc.

The artwork is more beautiful than functional, at least the first time we played - which we did wrong, missing one very key word in the rules: unoccupied. Makes waaaaay more sense when you play it correctly.

I was a bit surprised I liked this as much as I did. The rules are pretty straightforward and you can learn how to play in about 10 minutes -- lay a tile, optionally move your gardener up to 3 spaces, and optionally plant a seed. It might cascade into other pools, evicting your opponents seeds. That seems to be the heart of the game -- setting yourself up to make a big cascade, or sneaking in a tile and taking over a cascade of pools the other players missed. You get more points as you go up the pyramid, so moving your gardener up the pyramid quickly is also pretty important.

Maze runner puzzle competition. Again, Have not played another like it and it was my first Kickstarter, so i have an emotional attachment.
