Card drafting games are games in which players pick cards from a limited subset, such as a common pool, to gain some advantage (immediate or longterm) or to assemble hands of cards that are used to meet objectives within the game.
Card Drafting
Hand management games are games with cards in them that reward players for playing the cards in certain sequences or groups. The optimal sequence/grouping may vary, depending on board position, cards held and cards played by opponents. Managing your hand means gaining the most value out of available cards under given circumstances. Cards often have multiple uses in the game, further obfuscating an "optimal" sequence.
Hand Management
The primary goal of a set collection mechanic is to encourage a player to collect a set of items.

Overpromises in terms of theme, less of a card based 4X game than a space theme efficiency puzzle. It's okay, although I've seen a few random pulls tilt the game towards or away from players for pretty much the rest of the game.

Lo interesante de este juego, precisamente son las cartas de los artefactos, ya estas rompen las reglas y todos tratamos de conseguirlas.
Andy Parsons
Alien Artifacts shows its debt to 51st State in its three row card tableau and the use of resources to pay for card placement. Then there are the distinct ways each card can be used. In Alien Artifacts this boils down to making the card operational to attack aliens or opponents (ships), score vps (technologies), or provide resource cards (planets); or use its reverse side for things beneficial to building your tableau. It replaces 51st State's resource chits with cards that also serve to resolve combats and checks whether a particular technology scores, and whose deck operates as a game clock. A hand of just three resource cards and normally being allowed to use just two in a turn keeps the player turns fast. I do have a couple of reservations. The first is with combat that is risky and inefficient in terms of building your tableau. The second is about replayability; there doesn't seem the significant variation in cards needed to support radically different strategies. The artwork is functional and production quality is good.
