Hand management games are games with cards in them that reward players for playing the cards in certain sequences or groups. The optimal sequence/grouping may vary, depending on board position, cards held and cards played by opponents. Managing your hand means gaining the most value out of available cards under given circumstances. Cards often have multiple uses in the game, further obfuscating an "optimal" sequence.
Hand Management
The primary goal of a set collection mechanic is to encourage a player to collect a set of items.

I received this for free from the Spirits of the Forest campaign. We only have 2-players, so it was never played.

If Coloretto or Parade was made into a trick-taking game, this would be it. The trick-taking aspect is pretty much by the numbers stuff, but you score cards you take in tricks by collecting symbols. If you have 4, 5, or 6 symbols at game's end, however, you lose points. The scoring feels a little artificial and tacked-on, but I like it. I've seen people try to not take tricks, and I've seen people try to get as many as possible. Fortunately, you have to do the latter if you want a shot at winning. The only thing holding this back for me is the artwork, which is very similar to The Bloody Inn (maybe the same artist?). I know some people like this style, but it looks really amateur to me. This game won't set the world on fire, but it's quick and does what it does pretty well.
