Deck building/Pool building refers to a collection of related mechanisms. Players have a personal pool, or collection, of cards or tokens, that provide different actions and/or resources. A subset of those cards/tokens are randomly drawn each turn.
Deck / Pool Building
Hand management games are games with cards in them that reward players for playing the cards in certain sequences or groups. The optimal sequence/grouping may vary, depending on board position, cards held and cards played by opponents. Managing your hand means gaining the most value out of available cards under given circumstances. Cards often have multiple uses in the game, further obfuscating an "optimal" sequence.
Hand Management
The primary goal of a set collection mechanic is to encourage a player to collect a set of items.

I had a bad experience with this game. Set up and rules explanation was well over half an hour, and the game took more than four hours total. There were some positives and I'd like to give it another try, but I found the game to be an athematic kitchen sink design that didn't do much for me. Finally had a second play. Went much smoother, but I think it is still a 6 for me. It was fun for the first half, but it felt repetitive and started to drag by the end. Also, the random draws of the cattle seem out of place in an effiency/optmization Euro.

10 plays / 2,3,4 players (4p = 3.5h) LIKE: Mild interaction, but many paths of good strategy. It's possible to mess with your opponents by adding obstacles in the worker paths. Lots to think about, balancing ways to get an engine going. The worker buildings, where to place them, how to maneuver your workers each pass, is simply brilliant. DISLIKE: Lots of rules, some easy to forget. I feel a teach to a first time player will be overwhelmed. Theme is not attached to the mechanisms, especially the part about deck building with cows. I felt the deck building/shuffling feels a little overkill, and introduces a random element, but after playing a few times, it works. OVERALL: Very good game. It's a point salad and a mechanism salad, but it works and I like it. Compared to Mombasa (Pfister's other design), they are equally fun, but I like the theme a tad better in this one (cow cards vs. pith helmets).

Very good game. Many way to win and different thing to focus. Need to play once to know what strategy to plan in next. Looking forward for another game soon!
