Dice rolling in a game can be used for many things, randomness being the most obvious. Dice can also be used as counters. The dice themselves can be unique and different sizes, shapes and colors to represent different things.
Dice Rolling
This mechanism requires players to select individual actions from a set of actions available to all players. Players generally select actions one-at-a-time and in turn order. There is usually(*) a limit on the number of times a single action may be taken. Actions are commonly selected by the placement of game pieces or tokens on the selected actions. Each player usually has a limited number of pieces with which to participate in the process.

It is so similar to Kingsburg, a game I truly enjoy, so how can I give this game less than 8? Time will tell if this or Kingsburg is the better game, but for now I am simply enjoying the "same but different" feel.

Das Material ist schön aber unbespielbar, weil zu gross zu dunkel zu viel zu unübersichtlich. Die Übersicht geht völlig flöten und damit auch jeder flüssige Spielablauf.

Kingsburg meets Arkham Horror, from a pair of designers, one of whom was a designer on the former. As an evil cultist, you're rolling dice to invoke Elder Gods, and spreading your influence through a city to battle against Investigators who will try to stop you. Lots of theme here, like spells, various scenarios that can alter the gameplay, event cards, and a load of flavor text in the rulebook and on the cards. Excellent game, just different enough from Kingsburg, but easy enough for anyone to pick up who is familiar with how that system works.
