Pattern Building is a system where players place game components in specific patterns in order to gain specific or variable game results. For example: placing chips on 2, 4, 6, 8 on a board gets the player an action card they can use later in the game.
Pattern Building
The primary goal of a set collection mechanic is to encourage a player to collect a set of items.

A nice, clean game of drafting and placing little buildings on your own little city grid. For a simple game, there's a fair bit of AP potential here. This could be enjoyed by kids and gamers alike. It's the typical jumble of randomly drawn scoring goals here (often conflicting): build a horizontal row of buildings of one colour, build a city block to an exact colour plan, have a building of a different colour in every slot, and so on. There are also multiple, overlapping ways to score the same small area, and this is where the AP seeps in. If you want to maximize score, you really have to think ahead and plan. But the game moves along quickly once players understand what they're doing, so it should be possible to play this in 30 minutes. Components are all nice quality, and I very much like the bright colours used. Apparently this game costs a lot (for such a small box), so it's unlikely I'll aim to own this one.

? Game explanation: In Micro Architects, you act as an architect to build a city with houses and gardens along mountains and the water. A game consists of 3 rounds and each round consists of 3 phases: action, scoring and clean up phase. There are 6 different buildings, all in their own colour. On your turn, you take one of the available buildings from the appropriate row (depending on the number of players, there are a number of rows of buildings that become available in turn). You place your building somewhere in your city, trying to make patterns that meet the various public or personal goal cards. If you take a black building (landmark), you also take a scoring tile and try to meet its conditions for more points. If you complete a district, you get a boat. Boats you use to get extra action tokens. Action tokens are used to perform various actions (services), such as changing buildings in your city. Unused boats score points at the end of the game. At the end of a round, you score points for goals, landmarks and services. The player with the most points at the end of the game wins! For more challenge, there are also additional modules. There is also an expansion 'Architects' in the box. ⭐ Our review: Micro Architects positively surprised us. You can score points in many different ways, making the game very tactical. It is a fun, accessible puzzle game that can be made more difficult with different modules. By combining cards, you can get extra points. Unfortunately, the rules are not always clear yet, hopefully this will change with the final version.

Micro Architects is such a fun tiny game in which I am very enthusiastic about building my colorful town. I like how many different conditions it can score me and the fact that with the additional actions I can rearrange my buildings to prepare for other scoring. The additional modules make the gameplay even better and I can't imagine playing without them anymore. Final verdict: I'm glad I found the city empty and left it meepled.
