Pattern Building is a system where players place game components in specific patterns in order to gain specific or variable game results. For example: placing chips on 2, 4, 6, 8 on a board gets the player an action card they can use later in the game.
Pattern Building
Tile Placement games feature placing a piece to score VPs, with the amount often based on adjacent pieces or pieces in the same group/cluster, and keying off non-spatial properties like color, "feature completion", cluster size etc.

The new scorings cards are good, not so sure about the landmarks. Seems mostly to add complexity and playtime.

The increased variety in tiles is nice! The landmarks are also fun, a few more ingredients to the point salad. Depending on the landmark cards, they might encourage you to play in counterintuitive ways, which is fun!

The basegame had the perfect complexity to time to fun ratio for us. The expansion adds a new layer of small but noticable options to score points. It's another option to keep in mind. Therefore the game doesn't play as smooth as before. Maybe after some plays it will integrate more. But after the first play, we arn't confinces from the "landmarks". The other rule-changes are welcome and making the game better. If you play the basegame with just 2 or 3 players, you can just print these and have a good time.
